I know many of you probably saw this yesterday but I certainly found Larry Dorman’s article about sensors and water very educational. I feel like I don’t know enough about the subject to know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. Obviously any technology that could lead to golf courses using less water should be a positive. I fear though that these sensors would become just another cost that is passed along to the consumer and it still comes down to the super (and the golfers who want a green golf course) to determine how much water is used. I am pretty sure they will be using this system when they redo the greens at Congressional this summer. Hopefully I will be able to get out there and observe the installation.
Any thoughts from those in the know?
Exciting article and a great topic for discussion. The client testimonials for these sensors seem too good to be true. However, if the sensors really are saving money and water for these golf clubs this should be one bit of golf technology that would at least net out to the consumer and be environmentally friendly.
