I had a chance to preview 10 holes of this course on April 26th. I absolutely loved it. You feel as if you are transported back to the very origins of the game - even more so than on Bandon Dunes or Pacific Dunes. I think it will end up as the most challenging of the BD courses as it can play longer. I also thought it was far and away the funnest of their courses - which is saying a lot. The greens are enormous, the elements (wind) punish you, the spaces are wide open, the bunkers are varied and large and the views are spectacular. The grass is pure fescue and feels very tight and very firm underfoot. You have to think through each and every shot. If I had just one word to offer it would be "fun". I wanted to get right back out and play it again. There's just nothing remotely like this to my knowledge anywhere else in the United States - albeit I'm not grand consieur of golf courses.
